The Silence and The Rumbling

The Silence and The Rumbling

Water’s source of virgin light
Coming to the sand
A lion, ready to pounce,

Your shells both taken and disposed,
Within each step
She throws her power towards the shore,
And rumbles in the light.

Fire - in the sky this morning
Flaming through the night,
She’s brought her moon to nap today
Unsung and seeing all.

Her waters glisten, enraptured
by the eastern show of light
Her excitement bounds and curls in tandem
With each and every step.

She lets her teeth show, clean and white
Sparkles, as if, in twilight
Is it day or is it night?
The fire cannot say

Still, I sit beside this animal
and hope that she is tame.
My shovel and bucket both
Are not enough to hold my shame.
I see her beauty in this light
and know that I’m the same.

Take a breath dear child,
A familiar sound.
I use it as a centering.
The recognition within myself,
The animal and I, the same,
We are lost without the light.
